IPL Auction 2011 Live: Latest Updates From Day 2

   It was another day of surprises at the IPL auction as the pre-lunch session concluded at the ITC Royal Gardenia, Bangalore on Sunday with the sale of unknown Australian all-rounder Daniel Christian at an a mind-boggling $900,000 to the Deccan Chargers while Sri Lankan star Sanath Jayasuriya stayed unsold at a base price of $200,000. Ryan Ten Doeschate of the Netherlands was another surprise pick by Kolkata Knight Riders for $150,000, 3 times his base price. However, with most of the money exhausted, team owners stayed cautious and the number of cricketers unsold outnumbered those who found bids in the today's session of the Indian Premier League player auction. Among the players left unsold are Mohammed Kaif of India, Michael Yardy of England, Jacob Oram and Kyle Mills of New Zealand, Ravi Bopara, Monty Panesar and Tim Bresnan of England and Fervez Mahroof of Sri Lanka. Delhi Daredevils were the biggest gainers of the day, picking up fast bowlers like Umesh Yadav for a whopping $750,000, Ashok Dinda for $375,000 and Ajit Agarkar for $210,000, and Venugopal Rao for $700,000, Mathew Wade at $100,000, R. Van der Merwe at $50,000 and Andrew McDonald for $80,000. Chennai Super Kings bought Scott Styris, $200,000; Joginder Sharma, $150,000; Nuwan Kulasekara, $100,000; Sudeep Tyagi, $240,000. Deccan Chargers successfully placed bids for Daniel Christian, $900,000; Manpreet Gony, $290,000. Kochi bought Thisara Perera, $80,000; R. Vinay Kumar, $475,000; Stephen O’ Keefe, $20,000 John Hastings $20,000. Kolkata Knight Riders bought L. Balaji, $500,000; Jayadev Unadkat, $250,000 and Ryan Ten Doeschate at $150,000. Mumbai Indians bought Munaf Patel, $700,000; Clint McKay, $110,000. Sahara Pune Warriors bought Wayne Parnell, $160,000, Mitchell Marsh $290,000. Rajasthan Royals bought Shaun Tait for $300,000.Royal Challengers Bangalore bought Charl Langeveldt, $140,000; Luke Pomersbach, $50,000; A. Mithun, $260,000. King’s XI Punjab are yet to open their account.
